» introduction // Summary

Aldrich is a robot that deeply resents humanity and does not wish to interact with humans. He was not always like this and yet the past has shaped him into what he is now.

He sees himself as a soulless being that can no longer express strong emotions.

Aldrich was born around 1815 in Germany. He was born into an average family. There was nothing truly special about him. He was a human back then. He worked in an iron factory and had a decent life.

Later on in his life Aldrich had found someone that would teach him how to construct something. Aldrich used this knowledge to slowly experiment on his body whenever he found the time and modify it to gain an advantage in some form. These modifications ended up being the reason why Aldrich became this near immortal being. He had replaced nearly everything on his body. Sure he could still die if someone would decide to tear his now robotic body apart but that was the only way one could end his life.

Later on, Aldrich had ended up having to adopt the child of one of his friends. He at first didn't want to adopt it, and yet that child had clung to him until he would've stayed with them. They had ended up having a close bond until said child died of old age.

The way how he was treated back then was the reason that he became resenting humanity. He was no longer human and yet he could still feel emotions and mourn over something. He was told to suck it up and continue working. him not being allowed to mourn his son's death in peace began this route of resenting humanity. To this day this resentment still remains. He will not let a human get close to him ever again and will look for comfort in other sentient machines.

Aldrich found himself inside a small room. The year dates 1840 and he finds himself sitting besides another young man. This wasn't the first time that he found himself right here and yet whenever he does. He feels weird. His body feels human. His body feels weak, fragile and not what he longed to be. Aldrich was aware that all of this was just a memory and an attempt for his system to remain active and keep its memory data uncorrupted, and yet those memories felt bittersweet. The simple live of a human felt weird to him and yet so restrictive. This memory especially felt heartbreaking to him. He knew the conversation. He knew what the man will say, and he knew his responses. Aldrich decides to rest his head on the mans shoulder while said man works on something. It was a prototype of something that looked like a human hand made out of metal.

"The marriage is next week, and i am honestly scared"

The man uttered, his voice was a little shaky. Aldrich was well aware about what that man was talking, every time that this memory replayed it felt gutwrenching, it hurt and yet it had to happen.

"Don't be scared."

Aldrich responded in a dull and somewhat tired voice, he lifted his head from the mans shoulder and took his head in his hands.

"doesn't mean that she needs to know about us right?"

He added, he tilted his own head to the side a little. It was an attempt to comfort the other man even if aldrich wasn't the best at comforting.

"No, no you don't understand Al, i won't stay here after this marriage has been conducted."

The man muttered, tears seemed to begin to form in the mans eyes and Aldrich decided to wipe them away from the mans face. He now knew what the man meant with that sentence back then, but back then, he was blissfully unaware about the true meaning of that sentence. He knew that that man didn't decide to secretly indulge in a relationship with him because he wanted too, it was more because there was no other choice for him.

> > `system memory data resetting. The memory has caused the host to feel emotional. Host cannot express emotions at the current state.`

> > `new memory is loading, please wait...`

> > `memory #3082 has been selected...`

> > `please continue to rest well...`

> > `you are loved.`

Soon after the memory fades into nothingness. Aldrich cannot do anything against it. He knows that the system that he implemented into his own body has just taken over to protect him from further damaging his body in this state. He could choose to defy the system and it would let him continue the memory, but he chose not too, it was better for it to fate away. The memory hurt and he hated to remember it.

And yet the first part of the next memory was just as painful. The next memories were blurred, the next memories recall him bandaging up soldiers that seem to barely still be alive. It was all just a bloody mess, everything was just horrifying and yet this was one of the wars that he needed to sustain.

Aldrich never cared about his own, by now fully robotic body, at that time. His own body was just a mess that was somehow still working. Half of his own face was missing due to an incident weeks earlier. He hadn't even gotten a chance to attempt to fix it. Everything was just stressful, every day was filled with him tending to or wounded soldiers, sometimes even going as far as secretly killing them if they wished for it. War was horrifying and it didn't even help that Aldrich looked any better at that time. Aldrich looked like the personification of death despite him being quite the opposite.
